It's like listening to the entire human race restore its unity with more than just patriotism...the spirit of humanity rises in song, surrounds, and lifts one of their own who struggles to keep up with grace and humility, he laughs at his trial though he perseveres to succeed. You bet I shed some tears on this one. Note the transformation of the interpreter as she realizes what is happening. Beautiful message for 2012. Thanks guys.

This video brought a smile to my face and a warm feeling to my heart! I applaude this young man for successfully bringing this many people together with a common goal to pay respect to our country! I also want to applaude the crowd for helping this young man achieve his goal successfully! I have no idea who Mimi is but I can only imagine that she needs to take a good look at herself judging by previous comments. Remember perfection is in the eye of the beholder. To me this young man was perfect! Think about it before you comment next time.

Wow!! That's all I can say. This was only the second time I EVER showed emotion at the singing of the National Anthem. The first was over 20 years ago during the height of the Persian Gulf War. More than 21,000 strong joined name AND meaning at the UNITED Center in Chicago and sang the anthem with their hearts and voices as one. There was even a banner shown on the screen which read, "The REAL Heroes Are In The Persian Gulf". By the way, I saw someone comment that the man "laughed" while he sang the anthem. It happened to be a stutter, which is a VERY common and correctable speech impediment. Mimi, shame on you for your ATROCIOUS sentiments. If you said what you said in the blue seats at Madison Square Garden, you would have had your nose broken in 4 places and the entire arena would squeal at you as you were hauled out of the building to make the sound of a PIG. For shame.

I have a mentally handicapped sister....and she loves to sing...it is a one of the most beautiful things to listen to...no, she is not always "on key" but she sings with her heart. God Blessed her with a heart that is bigger than most people..and especially bigger than some of the negative comments listed here. I can not beleive people would think those things, let alone type it. They obviously have not been around these special kids. I know they could learn alot from them. God Bless this boy and his family. I admire EVERYTHING about this. Thank you for posting it and uplifting my day!!!!!!!!!! God Bless you!

I think it was VERY courageous of this young man to get up and sing in front of a crowd. I have a son with autism and I would NOT dare dream of holding him back and keeping him in a closet. For people that think they need to be hidden and out of sight, YOU are the one's that are ignorant. How would you like it if someone ALWAYS told you NO on everything or that because you lack in certain areas you shouldn't EVEN try. We all have gifts as well as trials. We all need to embrace each other and encourage each other. This kind of 'hate' and 'intolerant' talk is why the world is so compartmentalized and cut off from it's self. Wake up people, 1 in 90 people have autism and one day they WILL be your boss as some of them are smarter than us 'normal' people. I love my son and could NOT be prouder of him.

I thought it was wonderful opportunity for him to sing for USA. Who knows maybe deaf or deaf-blind can sign and sing next time? This is USA...home of braves and home of free...we are free to love our USA and be brave to stand up for ourselves. He just did that and I thank him for that.

My son is autistic and his father is a Major in the National Guard, so please don't make comments assuming what our Soldiers think. I think this young man enjoyed the positive way the crowd welcomed him. Children with disabilities are often bullied and excluded, so I am sure this young man was feeling "on top of the world" that day! Kudos to the crowd who made one young man a very happy guy with a special memory that will last a lifetime!

I have a niece with autism and I'm extremely proud of his effort.....and disheartened by the unchristian narrow minded post by no 1 Mimi!!! She just doesn't "get it". i've worked with autistic children and children with other learning differences ( i don't like the term disability, God made us all different) and he was in no way being disrespectful! perhaps it was the joy he felt at being able to accomplish something that others believe he couldn't do and he was unabashed in showing his joy!

Why would you ever remove a child from church? God wants all his children to come to him no matter what their age or disability. The adults in my church smile when they hear a baby or child during worship and bless the parents who take the time to bring them. This young man was in no way being disrespectful or irreverent! I work with autistic children and believe me they "get it"! He was overcome by the wonderful opportunity and the magnitude of the event...as you would be. The only difference is that you can control your emotions while those on the spectrum cannot always do that. I'm sad for you...that you aren't able to see the positive side of this event.

God bless this young man for being so brave to sing in front of a crowd of people. He got nervous so that's why he started to laugh. My son has autism and it is very hard to be in a large crowd or be able to interact with others around him. I wished this young man and his family many more happy memories. It was touching that the audience joined in and that the young man singing was having fun. You need to chill out a bit and don't take life so seriously. It makes it hard for people around you to understand autism if you're in a constant battle with yourself and others over the little things.

Yes, the crowd giggled with the man singing. Yes, the crowd sang with him. This was an amazing show of compassion, understanding, and acceptance. As a mother of a child with autism, this touched my heart. I did not see this as the crowd ridiculing him or attempting to rush him along..but rather a crowd who's heart was touched by the courage in this man and his giggling was contagious. When I see things like this, it reinforces to me that there are still good people out there that embrace those with special needs. I also work with special needs children and those of you on this page saying that the crowd was wrong, blah, blah, blah...need to also understand that not the entire world or even this country is versed in autism or special needs and does not analyze a situation to death. Yes, it would have been great to have the man finish on his own; however, the crowd was feeling the moment and wanted to assure the man that he was not alone. If you notice, when the crowd chimed in..the man seemed more confident. I know that my own kiddo has been put on the spot...started giggling because of the pressure....and when the audience began to speak up and assure her, she was able to make it through her whole speech. The voices from the crowd did not annoy me..they only brought tears to my eyes because the crowd wanted her to know that it is ok and when she was done, she received a standing ovation. Pity? NO...compassion, understanding, and acceptance. Geez....

hmmmm, I think the people sang with him b/c they were inspired and in the moment. I don't think it had a thing to do with pity. Sometimes, someone inspires you to rise up and join in and clearly this young man was able to do this with an incredibly large crowd of people. Why can't one see it that way. Why automatically assume pity plays into it all? I think making that assumption about the crowd is very unfair. Maybe it is what it seems - he brought the crowd together and touched them in a way that brought solidarity among the crowd. Very beautiful.

@meerkat one question who spit in your cereal honestly you find the harm instead the beauty of the video yes i get the message that your trying to convey but what i saw was a crowd that didnt help that wonderful man but a crowd that stood beside and supported him they didnt sing for him but with him and im sure you didnt know this but that game gave more than $100,000 to research and support for people with differnet types of mental illnesses so this gentlemen may not have needed help but there others that do need some help and guidance in there lives. im pretty sure we all do in some way shape or form so in the terms of equality we all need it just take a different approach next time and see that people still do care about each other weather disabled in way or form or not

It is truly a blessing to know that human compassion and caring still exsists in this world. I am a single part time working mother with a special needs 12 yr old son whom has a structural brain abnormality, adhd,tourette syndrome and PDDNOS (pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified) and life has been a struggle. I have seen the kindness and compassion of some people throughout the years and it has been a blessing to both my son and i. I give thanks to God everyday for the many blessings he has given me,especially my son !!

As I read these comments and watch this video, I do not see a man that forgot the words and needed help, I saw a man that was doing a great job, and happen to get caught up in something funny, and could not help himself, and the crowd came to gether in unison, What a touching thing to watch. That man did something that I know I could never do, sing in front of thousands, heck I cant even sing to 1 or 2 others let a lone thousands. Applause to him. and to all the soldiers out there, there is only one thing that I can say and we should all say and that Is "THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO TO KEEP US FREE. I really enjoyed this video. To the ones who had negative things to say about it, you need to really find God. I have worked with children and adults just like him, and they are very smart individuals. He either saw or thought of something that was funny to him and it made him laugh. It makes me sick when people make fun of people like this, it isn't their fault they are the way they are, and so many people judge them and make fun of them and it's uncalled for. When my children were small and seen a person with a mental illness and asked me, "Mommy what's wrong with that person?" I always told them "God made them extra special, and there is nothing wrong with them, they are just like us," and now my children are 13 and 9, and if they will both take up for someone with mental health issues. I think this young man done an awesome job and I can honestly say that he did a way better job than I could have, because there is no way I could sing in front of hundreds of people.

DrtyHrry- I am a solider that served 2 tours in Iraq as a sniper attached to a infantry unit. I am also a nephew of a man with down syndrome and don't appreciate you putting words in soldiers mouths. If we had been there at Fenway, my son would have joined in with great zealousness. Shame on you dirty harry. This was beautiful. Any man of God that loves all mankind in their purest including their weaknesses is beautiful, regardless. When we go to church the Lord wants us all to sing and sing with Joy, whether we carry a tune or not! How can you insult anyone and I mean anyone that loves the Lord and loves his nation and with Pride and Joy he stood before literally millions, including television viewers and sang with his heart.

Why am I not surprised there was at least one idiot that was stupid enough to make fun of someone who is brave enough to get up in front of such a crowd and sing the National Anthem. I bet this idiot was a bully in school, for that matter he still is. I have an Awesome Grandson who is also Autistic but there is nothing that he can do if he puts his mind to it. I would far more spend time with my grandson then with an idiot like GregM142. Thank God He never bless you with a handicap child, because you wouldn't have been able to appreciate the gift, you definitely wouldn't have the ability to.

Im sure the thousands of men and women who died for our country would love to see a man with autism feeling love and admiration for his bravery from his fellow man. I'm sure the crowd was neither impatient or disgusted, well maybe some of the selfish ones like you were but I'm sure thats a small percentage.

I just watched this awesome video. This young man was so very brave to sing the National Anthem. Because he has a disability didn't stop him, he stood up and did his best! How many people can say they did their best? All God asks from us is to try our best. This young man will be Blessed.

I think he was doing a fine job until he got tickled about something and then he needed some help to get him back on task. I think it is great that he knew the National Anthem. Some people do not realize how hard it is for these children to learn and how afraid most of them get in different surroundings such as crowds. I applaud the MBL for having him to sing the National Anthem and I think GregM142s comment was extremely rude and uncalled for. Maybe he needs to be educated on Autism and how fantastic it really is that he could sing this for us.

The very fact that our country has the resources and the support for people with autism and other diagnoses is what makes this country great. If you don't like it, move somewhere communist that kills those who are born different, and get in line for the day you are too old or have a stroke so that they can make an excuse to let you go too.

i was so impressed with this young mans talent and bravery to get up and sing before a large large crowd. He was amazing. He needs to be praised for what he did. Never made fun of because it comes home to you down the road. Hope God forgives you Greg 142 for your vicious attitude. One day you may need help or some oene will look at you and make fun of you. I was very touched by this young mans try at singing our national Anthem. It was so nice to see that you aren't only great fans, but also unbelievable people who live and work in Boston. I have always wanted to go to a game at Fenway with my best friend who is a police officer in Florida. We both dream about sitting in the outfield bleachers on a sunny day enjoying a Cardinals/Redsox game perhaps, or anyone for that matter. Maybe that day will come soon I hope and pray. You are all to be saluted and thanked for your love and compassion of the game and life itself. Even though I am a Cardinals fan, today I am a Red Sox fan all the way. Thank you again for your oustanding ability to realize when your fellow man needs help. and I can't wait to come there someday and meet alot of you! Take care, Dougers!

This video brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud to be an American, especially in times such as the one shown in this video, when we truly show what being an American means; when we show our pride and love for fellow Americans without regard to disabilities, race, color, gender, etc. This is a humbling video.

Greg it seems you are the disgrace to this country. This man did an amazing job. I guess you have forgotten about the horrible rendition of this song by Christina Aguilera who forgot the words or Roseann Barr grabbing her crotch will sing this same song. The baseball league did a wonderful thing letting this man who is a little different represent our country and sing the national anthem for a stadium full of people who showed compassion. This man didn't forget the words but just needed a little help.

Just watching this gave me chills it was so touching!!!This was so beautiful and I love how everyone came in and sang with him and cheered him on so precious!!God Bless this young man for going out there and singing he was very amazing and it was very touching!!And the crowd was full of warm hearts and loving attitude. I am the mother of an autistic teenager, and this video brought me to tears. How brave of that young man to stand up in front of that crowd and honor his country by singing the National Anthem. He may have had some nervous giggles, but he knew all the words, unlike some highly paid celebrities who manage to mess it up. God bless him.

I'm so Glad to have seen such an Inspirational Video such as this one! Congratulations to this young man! He did an Awesome job performing in public and to have such a loving croud to have sung along to help him w/ the National Anthem was showing that they too were wearing their kindness on their Sleeves that night!! Bravo to everyone who attended, especially our singer.. I too, have an Amazing Autistic son, his name is Nico Gianni Besser and he recites the Pledge every morning @ school over the P.A. System & I know all too well how this could've turned out... But, God was all around that night! It was one performance I will never forget as well as one croud of wonderful Fans that I can only praise & wish that more people were like those that night! Congratulations again!
