I cried buckets, but I am glad for these guys that they get to live out their life as a dog should. every step, no matter how small is still a step, i hope instead of nit picking as some people seem to be doing here as to the usefulness of animal testing, wouldn't it be more proactive to do something positive, take a step forward and do something like these fantastic people did.volunteer time, money a fund raiser, thankyou

These beagles look and act as though they came from a lab that used all the proper and ethical guidelines for treatment of their 'specimens," but not all labs follow these guidelines. They should be more than guidelines -they should be laws. Even if it IS necessary to use animals for research it is NEVER necessary to treat them badly when they are in your care.

When i watched this video i cryed for over 2 hours it really upset me , No Animal should be threated like this, how about we stick the pigs who put these dogs in boxes the faces on these dogs are so sad, if i could i would have one or even a cat but my daughters are allergic to animal fur, it upsets me to the point these dogs suffered, well lets hope they become loved and happy

I cannot praise or thank ARME enough for their compassion to these beagles. Dogs are supposed to be "man's best friend" but they're fairly treated as such. Also, cats can can be the most loving companions, but they are often treated so cruelly. ARME, you folks rock, and as one who has taken in a Pit Bull mix, two cats (one of witch was a lost feral kitten only a few weeks old), and who sets out food and water for a couple of feral kittens, I appreciate what you do for these loving beings.

I saw this video months ago not long after the rescue. It touches my heart the same way today as it did months ago. I was once involved with saving a starving, abandoned beagle. I fed it in a field for a couple of weeks to gain her trust.. I fostered her at home for a couple more weeks, but couldn't keep her. The once frightened beagle was so happy. Thanks to concerned people / animal rescue groups from Houston, Baton Rouge, and Canada, in my trying to find a place for this heart worm positive intact beagle, eventually 4 beagles lives were saved. I ended up transporting 2 part way to Houston (where they were in a foster home until adopted); the other two went to Central hospital in Baton Rouge (I think both for Heart worm treatment)....from there, they were transported to a rescue group in Canada. Yes, prayers can be answered, and I believe God had his eyes on all 4 of the beagles.

This is a great video. As for the neg commenting above: You must have no experience with animals. You dont have to be an expert in animal research to know that these dogs werent happy and well taken care of. Their ribs were showing, loose hair all over them, sores on the backs of their legs and back ends from constantly laying and sitting in crates. Did you see the tatooed numbers in the dogs ear? 2hundread and something? do you think they can adequately care for that many animals? also, have you even visited the website at the end of the video ? this organization is trying to do great things they have a great informative facebook page too. It's sad that you agree with lab testing and would deprive a sweet innocent dog of a life and a family. I hope you people dont own pets. I may not be an expert but i have raised beagles from the age of 11 until now. it is so sad that you know nothing about animals and then want to bad mouth this organization for their attempts in helping them. p.s. i thought godvine was supposed to be uplifting and inspirational. Okay all of you I love dogs and had a precious Beagle myself. These puppies do not look abused. My beautiful niece and her husband adopted my grand nephew four years ago in Russia. Alex was placed in the orphanage when he was born and had never been outside until the day my niece and her husband met him. It was a long and expensive process but now this angel has a wonderful home in north Jersey with a pool in his yard and a huge family of relatives whom really love him.

Disgust is at war with joy that they are now able to enjoy a normal life. Disgust that we could deprive animals for so long. And NO, I don't care if they were take out and petted for three hours a day .That is not the same as having a loving home with a family that is your own and being able to go outside for walks and play on the grass.

im a muslim, but seeing these dogs makes me sad. they dun deserve to be treated like this. they deserve a life to live. dogs and cats are considered "pets". they can be our bestfriend and guardian and will risk their lives for us. i would definitely help an injured or helpless dog if i saw one. these pets are not meant to be be physically abused, battered to death or eaten for some peoples. lets us help if we saw they being abused.

PEOPLE.....every dollar helps. You do not have to make a large donation. A dollar form a thousand people is $1000. Stop making excuses as to why you cannot help. I am on a low fixed Disability income check and I find a way to help. I just donated $50 that I didn't have to give to the east Bloodhound Rescue Center and when I get my check again....I will donate something to this cause. We all can help a little.

I had a beagle before and he was an angel and is an angel in doggie heaven now. been 9 years since then but I couldn't Imagine someone doing this to my usher. Wow I have ms and I agree with you bettyanngandy.I wouldn't want them to experiment on any animal for me. There has to be another way. I don't even want to take my meds anymore for the fear of this now. I wish I had enough money to help stop this and wish I could save them all. SO SO SO SO SAD. I just dont understand what they needed to keep these poor dogs caged up for! These are also God's creatures and God doesn't scare me, why would labs scare these precious animals for? Tjhey looked terrified to take a step outside their caged "homes". I have M.S. and I certainly hope no animal is going to be treated in this fashion to obtain a cure for me...I just don't understand the purpose...WHY??? I'm glad they were all adopted, wish I had lots of money I would rescue them all! Poor babies!!!...sad.

My husband once commented that until Man understands the plight of animals and empathizes with them, he will have to be reborn time and again to learn true compassion until he finally "gets it." I know that my own soul has grown through my education and possible re-education on this earth. Everyday is an opportunity for me--and for you--to show some kindness to God's creatures. Come to the aid of lost or abandoned animal companions who are desperately in need. There is no such thing as "can't do" if there is an ounce of compassion. Make it work for the animals and for you. This video makes my heart sing praises to God.

Governments need to legislate no lab testing on animals. It is as cruel as doing it on humans and is not justified at all. More people in the public need to see and learn about the cruelty. It is said that high indication of a violent offender is cruelty to animals. What does this say about all those lab technicians? Speak up and make aware.

I personally rescued my sweet Josey 11 years ago last month 11-2-2000 and she is the love of my life. And my husband is very well aware of that fact. When I found her, our son was looking for a kitten and found his Wendy and I decided to check out the dogs & when I saw her in the top row of cages and our eyes met, I "saw" her vision of a beautiful blue sky and green pasture. It must have been her 'dream' because she loves just going out in our yard and rolling around in the clover or her 'sweet spot' when she finds one she likes! Beagles are known for their 'forgiving nature' and this has long been a sad reason they are wanted for hunting dogs because mean hunters will toss them in cages, make them not eat for 2-3-4 days so they can run better and because they are natural chasers. When I first heard about this situation in Europe, I was appalled! In cages, no sun, no grass, probably loaded with rickets, bone disease, etc. etc. They are so sweet and have the saddest little eyes. It's so refreshing to see ARME rescue them and be so tender with them and make sure they do go to the most loving of humans. Hats off and God Bless you all! I find it integrating that so many comments mention God and along in the same paragraph the person expressing their feelings are saying things to the effect of 'the people who are had done that should be put in cages' or even having or not having a heart and things long those lines.
I agree that it was an awful thing to do. I'm grateful for the selfless people who rescued them and the wonderful families who adopted them.I hope they take down the many testing facilities that are doing stuff like this.
With that being said, animal testing in a whole doesn't have to be a terrible thing like this was here. It can be and is done in a correct way, the thing is is we NEVER hear about anything being done correctly all we hear is bad stuff.
We all need to take a step back get over our self's and stop beating up on each other. All or most of us on here believe in God and Jesus and what he did for us so lets stop throwing stones at each other and HELP each other. Then together we can help in situations like this.

Dogs do not deserve to be kept locked up in cages. My heart broke when I saw the looks on their faces...some had worried looks, some looked sad...unsure, etc....
Their bodies might have been healthy, but their minds looked fragile. It was obvious in their eyes, something was wrong......
No matter what, it's hard to understand why these precious little animals are being kept in labs...for what purpose>? It's been said ...to do research, but what kind of research??? I'm really confused. What are these little angels dealing with in labs???? Anyone know>?

Ok, I can feel the hate for this coming on, but I actually work for a preclinical lab, and while we know not all labs are the same, I can say the few beagles we have at my work are HAMS for attention no matter how much ya give them so it was no surprise to me that these guys enjoyed some lovin'. Our dogs have names, get daily playtime with their friends and toys, and do not live in tiny little cages. But Dear Njcurtis, they "weren't the best on their feet" in the grass more likely because it's just a bizarre texture to them. Puppy mill dogs that get their freedom go through the same experience. They'll run on certain surfaces but recoil at others until they get used to it. My dog at home used to think snow was just mind-blowing.

This is not to say I love animal research or anything. We give them the best we can since they're there though. (we're vet techs and veterinarians, rescue runners and pet owners, not animal-haters) And I know there are people that are going to fire back that there are alternate methods and such, but trying to explain that there really..isn't quite yet for what we do, probably will go nowhere. Believe me, I would be perfectly fine if those new methods put me out of a caretaking job.

BUT, I absolutely love that these guys got to leave and get homes though and be the mischievous little critters that beagles are. :) It's something every dog deserves. Now if only we could save all the creatures sitting in shelters and rescues right now.

Animals HAVE feelings and to keep animals in a cage for their entire lives is just plain cruel and it has to stop NOW!!! I wish these people who did this would be put in a cage and left there for the rest of their lives. I watched as each dog came out and they weren't the best on their feet in the grass and that isn't surprising since they probably didn't have room to move their legs. I am glad they were saved and hope each one has a new home with GOOD GOD fearing families. Many thanks to the rescuers.

I wish more beagles were set free,,The ones that people use to hunt with,are always in bad shape! I know because I rescued one her name is Bella,she didnt make eye cotact,and didnt know how to respond to human touch,and she only weighed 13 pounds.She was in really bad shape.My mother use to live in the country and I was amazed at how many hunters that use beagles didnt take care of them,and in the country,it isnt as easy to call animal control to rescue the dogs,so they get away with it.I adopted Bella in 2003, she is still with us and healthy as a horse.She is a good dog and very loving.It breaks my heart and makes me sick to think a human being can hurt an animal,child,when all they have is love and they forgive so easly.Thank God they:re are people that care enough to help and get the job done.

These dogs, even though they may not have been outside, have definitely been socialized very well during their lives. With humans and dogs so they evidently had been able to walk around and be with each other. I wouldn't call them abused. We got a puppy from a puppy breeder that has been extremely difficult to socialize with people AND dogs.

Very touching video though. Dogs should be able to run!

Found myself in tears watching this... It's difficult. In R&D for cancer research, before the drugs are tested in humans, they're tested in animals to inform toxicity and basic efficacy profiles. Yes, there are those who agree to healthy volunteer studies (for all but oncology, where the drugs are generally too toxic for healthy volunteers, thus phase 1 is in the patient population - phase 1 is the initial testing to understand the optimal dose and side effect profile, before testing in larger populations), however please know healthy volunteers sign a consent where they are informed, based on animal studies and sometimes the class of drug, of potential side effects. Please keep in mind not all animal testing is for frivolous products. Still, as above, its difficult. There are compounds that never made it to humans due to toxicity and sudden death in animals. There are those who do not accept using animals for research and development of human drugs, no matter the disease. This is their prerogative and ultimately a counterbalance I think. This was a beautiful video, from any angle.

Billy, while I agree with you on one point I don't on another. There's a difference in "the dog pound" & "the local animal rescue foundation". The pound is gov run and usually makes little or no effort to adopt out animals, while rescues or shelters goals are to find good homes for thier animals. I hate the idea of putting dogs/cats down. But sometimes there is no choice! Unfortunately, pounds/shelters truly do run out of space and there are also dogs/cats that are not adoptable for many reasons. These facilities have to answer to state and/or county laws. There're diseases that have to be controlled and sometimes the only way to do that is to contain those animals and euthanize them. Diseases like parvo and distemper spread rapidly and are deadly to puppies and elderly pets and they WILL suffer horrible if affected. Without proper documentation there's no way to tell if an animal has current vaccinations. State &/or county laws usually require all animals in house be put down, no new animals brought in and decontamination & 30 day quarantine of property. NOT the choice of any reputable rescue shelter! Great Christmas gifts are a collar with a name tag, a spay/neuter cert from your local vet's office, certs to pet sit, walk, or groom a friends or loved ones pet(s). Plz no pets unless recipient(or parent of)agrees ahead of time

The video does look heartbreaking! But, the beagles APPEAR to be healthy so were PROBABLY seen by a vet regularly. They do not APPEAR to be aggressive, so have PROBABLY been socialized, not only with people, but with other dogs! That said, IF they were socializing with other dogs they were MOST LIKELY able to play, sleep, and eat with each other. IF this lab followed laws and protocols or even kindness, the dogs crates and play areas were PROBABLY cleaner than alot of floors I've seen that children play on! Just because a dog has never had a chance to romp in the grass doesn't make him abused. IF so, there are many in big cities that are having a rough time of it in apartments! They ARE acting like dogs that COULD be suffering from car sickness, fatigue, or shyness. Because a dog is shy doesn't mean it's abused. They dont APPEAR to be elderly so thier "entire lives" in a lab MAY be less than a year. They MAY have been rescued from a puppy mill or pound and were set to be adopted...

Amazing how many people will put their trust in man and not in God YET they say they TRUST and BELIEVE in God. I guess some people feel that God is out of the healing business and that cruel and evil actions will cure their pain. No different in how some people still think treating others as crap just to get ahead is OK. I am so glad that the God of yesterday is still the God of today and will be the same God of tomorrow. He see's all, knows all and He truly knows the real reason we do what we do. He knows when we do things not because we trust Him but because we trust man more. Many people would jump at the chance to do medical research. I guess they feel that they are already abusing their bodies with drugs and alcohol, so why not get paid for it.

How many have you owned or now own? How can the shelters be overflowing if they kill over 400 dogs a month just in my area. @ Billy- Because I don't want to point my finger specifically at you, I do have to say that people who think like you do in believing putting a animal down is the most cruel are so wrong. Our shelters are over flowing because of many reasons and not just a spay/neuter issue. They come from people who can't take the responsibility, sick puppy's from mills, etc.. Yes.. spay/neuter is a #1 priority and we are working everyday to change that. Because you are so certain this is the worst abuse, I have to ask if you're working towards this. People testing on these dogs is the worst way to abuse. It is a means of torture. These beagles not only are afraid to step out of their confinement, they also have lack of muscle control. So far from normal transporting.

I am pretty sure your beagle does not have one of these, instead of rejecting the appropriate information, its time to just watch the video instead of completely being oblivious to these dogs are not acting normal, all 9 dogs were afraid to come outside, that is more than your 1 dog can say for these poor animals.

I agree the story sounds horrible. Be aware it's just one side of the story. Get all of the correct information before you make a judgement. My beagle use to act just like the dogs in the video when he was let out of his crate after transporting him.
To the people that want to go kick butt because it's so cruel, wouldn't that be cruel also?
You have to admit, the video and the story will bring in donations.
The worst animal cruelty going on every day is the senseless killing of unwanted animals, by agencies that are suppose to be rescueing them. Spay and neuter is the number one way to stop animal cruelty.

My Dad and I have owned a couple dozen beagles. Hopefully, you can get an experienced beagle to show them the ropes of running rabbit. It is trilling and spine chilling to hear a beagle run a rabbit for the first time. That moment when you know that he/she realizes that this is more than chase the other dog, but your dog is actually tracking by smell will bring a tear to your eyes. That frenzied yip turning into a series of yips and then baying is just awesome! It let's us witness the discovery of God given traits and ability of these dogs. They make wonderful pets and companions. You hunters will find little difference in the hunting results of both inside and outside beagle dogs. So make them part of your inside family. You won't regret it.

First off I'd like to say that this video is absolutely beautiful and amazing. These dogs are so precious and I can't wait to have my own very soon. One thing I'd like to speak against are some of these comments that people have made, more like retorts. I understand your frustration and that you are very passionate about your cause, but berating and putting down people who don't agree with you is counter productive. If you want to educate people about the harms done to animals in scientist labs then do so, if you want to come up with various solutions that don't include animals being tested, great! I'm for that too, let's sit down and have an intelligent conversation. But telling people that their relatives who are in jail deserve to be tested on, or that the homeless is a great solution, or treating the very scientist who have saved many lives is not the answer. When I read some of the comments here, it just infuriated me and totally took me out of the purpose of this video. Dogs were generously created to be our companions by our loving Creator. In Genesis 2:18-20, God allowed Adam to inspect His handiwork and choose companions. I believe this is where our close relationship with dogs, cats, etc began. The relief and trust in the eyes of these abused animals is amazing. I seriously doubt the dogs were actually kept in cages like these at the lab. They probably were in dog runs. There are very strict rules about how research animals are allowed to be treated, and no reputable big-pharma, university, or manufacturing company is going to risk fines, sanctions, and bad publicity for not following them--it's not worth it. I've seen dogs in research projects, and they were frequently petted, taken out for walks (outside, in the grass!), given names by the lab researchers, and generally treated very well--mistreating them is not in the best interest of anyone, including the lab. I'm not defending all animal research--personally I believe some is necessary but not all. However, I do believe this video is a bit misleading, as it is designed to pull your heartstrings to discourage ALL animal testing.

The physiology of a dog is VERY different from a human, as is many other animals being tested. It offers little to no accurate information. It is the drug companies way of proving they did 'clinical tests' for the FDA.

See what dog is spelled backward??God~ and, no I'm not saying a dog is God, but what would God think?? There are plenty of people who need treatments that could try something expiramental, just as I did. A Dog cannot stand up and say, please don't do that to me. So happy to see these lovely dogs saved, wish we could save them all!

WAKE UP!!

The amount of animal testing could be cut DRASTICALLY: first, by reducing the increasing amounts of disease.

ONE way for the people of our country to be healthier is to stop polluting our food supplies w/pesticide, GMO's, cut food additives to create addiction, etc. Make cleaning agents, etc. that are not toxic.(The list goes on.) Big Chem and Big Pharma and Big Health and making billions by getting us sick, keeping us sick and making us sicker (without our awareness).

There ARE CANCER cures, etc. out there... they are being suppressed. There is no money for these Big Corps in "HEALTH." If I were in the alopathic health field, I would be ashamed of the of 90% of what they are doing to our country. (My Mom was a nurse & nephew a DO, friend a Pharmacist... now I practice old school, naturopathic, nutrition, etc. as much as possible.)

An example: Instead of my baby being given repeated rounds of antibiotics for reoccurring ear infections, (resulting in her weakened immune system and whose GI is messed up... including food sensitivities, leaky gut, foggy thinking) inattention, lethargy, etc.) she could have been treated OVERNIGHT with a few drops of olive oil & lavender oil in her ear, or even a garlic clove! After I learned this and started treating her myself, w/100% effectiveness OVERNIGHT, I was so sad about the unnecessary drugs that I allowed to be put in her body. (Now she deals with learning issues due to her health issues. Did not have them before.)

My Mom's rare liver disease... MILK THISTLE WORKED... the stuff they gave her in the hospital and overcharged for did not. My own breast cancer: a black herbal salve taken in pill form. Same salve used on cancer of my sister, a friend, cows, horses, dogs, ... all 100%.

If the people had healthy food/water/living (not what is in most store shelves now)so we had better heath to begin, and if WE spent more time looking at what has already been working for centuries instead of taking the unnecessary drugs Big Pharma is pushing, we would not "need" so much, or any, animal testing.

Do your research folks... there is a lot of cross-referenced info available. Do not give your referent power to Big Health, Big Pharma, etc. ENOUGH!

They are passionate, kind, and devoted health researchers who are willing to euthanize a rat at the conclusion of a study because we have to remind ourselves that if our children were suffering an intractable disease, we would see this as a small price to pay for saving their life. But it is always difficult. We love the animals, and make sure that at the very least, their lives are filled with creature comforts. It is difficult to see these sorts of misleading videos make the truly dedicated researchers I work with become villainized. As a person within the field of health, I feel I must dispel the myth that there is another option that would allow us to circumvent animal research. There is just not. We do not understand enough about the disease pathways in the human body to model it using computers. That is precisely why we need animals. We could never ethically do the sort of research that needs to be done on people first. Yes, there are individuals who volunteer for research, and I work with these amazing individuals all the time and greatly thank them for their contribution. However, we would never, ever, test a drug on people before it has been rigorously tested in animals first. Every drug that has ever been developed has been developed this way. I don't want to end on a bad note, but I must impress that it is highly hypocritical to say you are against animal testing if you are willing to benefit from all the medical advances we have today, including life saving drugs for you or your family.

This advance means that my daughter can live a normal, healthy life. Banning animal testing would deny many other sick people the opportunity to find cures for their illnesses and suffering. Actually animal experiments have hindered research on diabetes. Animal lab data incorrectly led researchers to think that diabetes was a disease of the liver, not the pancreas. Insulin's role in diabetes was discovered through non-animal methods; the experiments on beagles merely "validated" the findings for scientists who had to be convinced through animal models.

Overconsumption of animal products may increase diabetes risk. Since the 70s, studies in peer-reviewed journals show that a plant-based diet high in complex carbohydrates can not only dramatically lower diabetes risk but can reverse it.

Each species is different. Animal experiments could not even prove that tobacco smoke caused lung cancer even though the epidemiological and clinical evidence was overwhelming. Animal testing indicated that hormone replacement therapy lowered cancer risk when in fact it increases it. Tests on a range of animals indicated that fen-fen was safe for the heart when it fact it most definitely was not. Leptin injections prevented obesity in rats but were a bust in humans. And so on. Seemingly minor differences in regulatory genes and obviously major differences in physiology make extrapolations from animals to humans unreliable.

The best thing the government could do if it wants to lower disease is focus on prevention; for instance it should shift subsidies from meat, dairy, and feedcrops to fruit and vegetable farms; e eat too much of the former and not enough of the latter. It should stop letting meat and dairy representatives have a say in the food pyramid and food plate. The U.S. spends more on animal experimentation than any other country, yet has some of the world's highest rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. The system is broken.

Yes, we love our daughters. So do the chimps wasting away in lab cages for decades whose daughters are taken from them as they cry out.

Animal testings can't be justified. But sadly there is law only to protect humans, not animals. I would rather see testing on useless humans, plenty around, just grab some junks from jails.
I'm glad the story ended well for these Beagles. At least they can have some normal life.

It make me angry that these innocent animals had to endure a life of hell. I have read many of these post, it makes me ill the excuses people make to abuse animals. I have been a nurse for over 27 years, I am an animal advocate and a member of PETA. I know for a fact that there are too many people out there and government programs that would allow people with life threatening illnesses to use experimental drugs, there are people that would volunteer, there is absolutely NO reason to take an animal and inflict pain and suffering on it in the name of research. That is a totally lame excuse. It is not acceptable and people need to stand together and stop this cruel testing.
