Danielle Delph loves her mother so much that she wondered what it would be like to grow up together. So the 25-year-old daughter did something extra ordinary to help picture her and her mother together during their wonder years.

She made this beautiful photo series called, "If I Had Known My Mother Back Then."

"I've always wondered if my mom and I would have been friends had we grown up together," Danielle said. "Would we be in the same classes? Would we have the same sense of humor? Would people tell us we were inseparable? After seeing myself in her childhood photos, I'm pretty sure we would have been great friends.”

When Danielle got the idea, she asked her mother to send her childhood photos. This was a challenge because many of the family’s albums were destroyed in a hurricane. Danielle went to work and photoshopped herself into her mother’s pictures. The project took six months to finish, and it’s hard to tell who is who.

Danielle noticed, “They took photos so differently back then. It was something that was meant to share in a photo album, and we take selfies and photos of sandwiches.”

Danielle was glad that she got to see a her mother in a new light. “You see a side of things that you never really saw before,’ she said, ‘because you’re not there for the first 30 years of your parents’ lives.”

When Danielle presented her mom with the pictures, she couldn’t believe her eyes. "My mom really loved the project. She said it made her cry, and she visits it everyday. She thinks we really would have been friends had we grown up together."
