Teacher's request goes viral!

This 6th grade teacher goes above and beyond the duties defined in her job description as a teacher and aren't we glad she did! This is a timeless message as our children are growing up in a dangerous society. God, we pray for our children to be safe in and out of the school walls and especially as social media has become so popular. Amen.

Melissa Bour, a 6th grade teacher from Tulsa, Oklahoma, decided to teach her students a valuable lesson about posting inappropriate pictures on social network sites such as Facebook. After she saw some of her students upload pictures that contained nudity and obscene gestures, she decided to play the same game. How could she know her lesson on internet safety could go viral.

She wrote this note about her students and posted it on her personal Facebook page.

“My 12-year-old students think it is ‘no big deal’ that they are posting pictures of themselves in bras or with their middle finger in the air. Please help me out by sharing this image and commenting with where you live to show these young students how quickly their images can get around.” - Melissa Bour

Her photo ended up going viral. People from all over the country shared it and commented on it. She later removed the photo and updated her Facebook with the following status.

Ms. Bour taught her students a valuable lesson that can't be found in any textbook. Kudos Ms. Bour!

This teacher's lesson is one you'll never forget:
