Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you. Deuteronomy 16:17
We’ve all seen the men and/or women standing on the corner at major intersections asking for help - whether it be money, food or clothing. And the question still remains…do I give them money or not? Do I give them food? What will they REALLY do with the money if I give them some? You're not alone. I think just about everyone asks themselves the same questions.
Here's what I've learned. You do what's right for you BUT I do believe God will bless you for taking care of his children. We are all children of God and he wants us to above all love each other, a lot!
Luke 3:11 says, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise."
So, I think the answer lies within each of us. God instructs us to help those in need, to clothe those without, to feed the hungry. I don’t think God wants us to ‘over think’ it. You know what I mean?
Here are some men that clearly have made the decision to step out of their comfort zone and take action on behalf of someone else in need. Read their signs carefully. What would you do if you saw someone carrying this sign? Maybe we all might respond differently, maybe not. But, they are to be commended for doing ‘something’ to help someone in need.
So, next time you see someone in need, just pause and give it a little more thought. In that moment, you just might feel the Holy Spirit prompt your soul to do something you never thought you would do. Blessings!
