A Hard Earned Nap
Being a mom isn’t just one of the most important jobs in the world, it can also be one of the hardest. You’re on duty 24/7 and far too often your hard work goes unnoticed.
Well, take heart moms! There’s a Facebook post going viral that’s entirely dedicated to all you mavens of motherhood. The kind words are penned by a father — Tony Emms — who admits to underestimating just how much work truly goes in to being a stay-at-home mom. So, one day, when he found mommy and son sacked out, he used it as an opportunity to acknowledge to all of the hard work his fiancee, Charlotte, puts in at home each day.
Read Tony’s touching tribute below. . .
I sometimes don’t give this woman the credit she is due. When I come from work she is always ‘tired.’ Now it’s me who has been at work doing stuff all day, but lately I’ve been thinking what this amazing woman does while I’m out. Surely she just sits with the baby and watches TV and has a chilled day, right?
Brilliant Mummy can have a nap, no she doesn’t, she does the washing, cleans up baby’s toys and starts washing the pots from the night before. Baby wakes up and is hungry. Mummy hasn’t had breakfast but she still doesn’t eat — she gets baby set for his lunch. After his lunch he then wants attention and plays — remember Mummy still hasn’t eaten. All the cleaning she’s done earlier is now time wasted as baby’s toys are everywhere.
I come home from working and get annoyed that I have to tidy up and say Mummy hasn’t done anything. Yet she has worked. . .all day to make sure the baby is healthy and happy.
If any other daddies out there feel like me, think about what you’ve done and what Mummy has done.
Respect the mother of your child. She is a special type of human that has given up everything to bring up your baby. I truly love my 2 sleeping babies and they both deserve their rest.
To date, Tony’s post has been like over 40,000 times and shared over 14,000 times – a complete surprise to him! In a follow up post, Tony says he was simply trying to “let my partner know how much I love and care for her and that I was sorry that I ever thought she did nothing while I was at work.” But his plea for men to respect the mothers of their children struck a chord with men and women alike around the world.
What a wonderful reminder to value and honor those people in our lives that we may at times take for granted!
“Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:10-12
