There are amazing dads all over the world, and this dad from China is one of the most selfless fathers we've ever heard of.

Single father, Yu Xukang carries his disabled 12 year old son Xiao Qiang to school every day, for a round-trip daily total of 18 miles.  He carries his son strapped to his back in a specially-constructed basket made specifically to accommodate his son's twisted arms and legs and hunched back.

Amazing father's journey for his son

The local schools refused to take Xiao because of his disability, but God opened the door to another school a few miles away. But unfortunately, there were no school buses.

Yu said: ‘I have carried him there and back now since last September, every morning I get up at 5am to prepare a lunch for him to eat and then I walk the four-and-a-half miles to the school, and then come back here so I can work to earn money. I then walk back to the school to pick up my son and bring him home.’

Raising his son alone since the boy was just 3 years old, Yu was determined that his son would not suffer from being raised by a single parent, and he wanted to give him the best opportunities possible.

This dedicated dad has walked an estimated 1,600 miles total through rocky paths and steep hills every day.  He says, "My son with his disabilities is not in a position to walk on his own and it also means that he can't ride a bike. Despite being 12 he's just 90 cm tall. But I am proud of the fact that he is already top of his class and I know he will achieve great things. My dream is that he will go to college.’

The Lord was faithful to this loving father, and after the media revealed this story, the local government announced that they would rent a room to the dad. The school also stepped up to the plate to help, arranging to  take on boarding students like Xiao, to help ease the burden on families .

We thank God for this dad’s commitment to his son. It’s a reminder of how our Heavenly Father will provide all of our needs according to His riches and glory!  (Phil 4:19)

Matthew 6:31-34 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[d] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
